Peter Confrancesco III

NJQHA is saddened to acknowledge the passing of  PETER J. COFRANCESCO III and sends sincere condolences to Carmen, the children and the entire Cofrancesco Family.

Peter grew up being a member of NJQHA.  Following in his father’s footsteps, he became a leading force in American Quarter history.  Peter started as President of the NJQHYA and in 1991 became President of the AQHA Junior Association, which is now called AQHYA.

He served as NJQHA President and represented NJ as an AQHA Director for Region 5.  He was elected to the AQHA Executive Committee in 2008 and was the first AQHA Youth President ever to serve on the Executive Committee.

In 2010, Peter was named 1st Vice President of AQHA and served as President from 2011-12.  In 2010 Rutgers, the State University of NJ awarded Peter the “Spirit of the Horse” Award.  This Award recognizes individuals whose lives have been profoundly changed because of their involvement with the horses and who have acknowledged the impact by giving back to the horse industry. In addition, Peter served on the NJ Horse Racing Commission and was one of the founders of the World Conformation Horse Association.

Peter was a talented exhibitor earning numerous World and Reserve Champion titles often with Cofrancesco bred horses.  The Cofrancesco Family was recently awarded a 40 year breeder award from AQHA.

2017 brought Peter the highest honor bestowed upon a person in the American Quarter Horse industry. Induction into the AQHA Hall of Fame.  Those chosen for induction are recognized for their life-time accomplishments and service.

NJQHA is proud of the contributions Peter made to our state and to the Quarter Horse industry. Our association mourns the loss of a kind man with a smile for everyone who had a tremendous impact.
