RANCH RIDING CLINIC

 

CLINICIAN: TERRY HELDER, PRESIDENT EAST COAST RANCH RIDING ASSOCIATION

 

 

The second of 2 NEW Clinics offered this year by NJQHA was held April 15 at Karl Bauer’s North Jersey Equestrian Center in Pompton Plains.  Both clinics were sold out!

 

 

Our clinician was Terry Helder, President of the East Coast Ranch Riding Association.  Terry explained how to make your horse more supple, how important position is for both you and your horse and then how to obtain and maintain it.

 

He then explained Ranch Riding patterns, showing how to ride the pattern in an arena, speed of the gaits used in Ranch Riding and the maneuvers used in the patterns.

 

As Terry is also a judge, after each rider completed the pattern, he critiqued the ride to let you know where it was executed correctly and where improvement was needed.

 

It was a very positive day, where a lot of information was available, whether you plan on showing in Ranch Riding or just obtaining better control of your horse.
